Miles & More is the frequent flyer program of the Lufthansa Group and the largest in Europe, launched in 1993. It serves as the shared program for Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, and other group carriers, and connects into Star Alliance for earning and redemption across roughly two dozen airlines. Lufthansa Group flights moved to dynamic award pricing in June 2025, and miles expire after 36 months unless a member holds status or an active co-brand card.

Status is earned through a Points system, restructured to separate qualification from redeemable award miles, and runs Frequent Traveller, Senator, and HON Circle Member, the last reserved for the group's highest-value flyers and qualified on its own separate currency, HON Circle Points. Qualification periods align to the calendar year.

The lesson for an enterprise operator is the complexity that comes with scale across many brands. Miles & More has to reconcile the commercial interests of several airlines, multiple co-brand card issuers, and a large partner base under one currency and one status ladder. Its recent shifts, dynamic pricing and a reworked Points structure, are attempts to regain pricing control and simplify a program that decades of accretion made intricate. Operators running loyalty across a portfolio of brands should expect governance, not technology, to be the hardest part.
