Club Iberia Plus is the loyalty program of Iberia, Spain's flag carrier and a member of oneworld. Like sister airline British Airways, Iberia earns and redeems in Avios, the shared currency that also serves Qatar Airways, Aer Lingus, and Finnair, and that members can move between these programs at parity. The program has long been popular with points collectors for specific Avios redemption sweet spots on short-haul and transatlantic routes.

On 1 April 2025 Iberia rebranded the program from Iberia Plus to Club Iberia Plus and rebased status on Elite Points, earned at one point per euro spent on Iberia Group flights and extras. The ladder runs Plata, Oro, Platino, and a new Platino Prime, above which sit the lifetime Infinita and Infinita Prime levels. The change raised the effort required to reach and hold status, and it landed on the same date that sister carrier British Airways moved its own Tier Points onto spend.

The lesson for an enterprise operator is how membership in a shared currency bloc shapes strategy. Iberia does not control Avios alone; it shares the currency with several airlines, which makes its points liquid and useful but also constrains unilateral change. When Iberia reworked its program, it altered status mechanics, the part it controls, rather than the currency, the part it shares. Operators in shared-currency arrangements should expect to compete on status and experience, since the currency itself is common ground.
