LATAM Pass

LATAM Airlines' program, alliance-free since leaving oneworld in 2020. It now earns status through partners Delta and Aeroméxico.

LATAM Pass is the loyalty program of LATAM Airlines, South America's largest carrier. LATAM left the oneworld alliance in 2020 after Delta took a stake in the group. Members earn LATAM Pass miles across LATAM's network and partners such as Delta and Aeroméxico, and earn Qualifying Points for elite status.

LATAM Pass is the loyalty program of LATAM Airlines, the largest carrier in South America. Its strategy has been reshaped by a single event: LATAM left the oneworld alliance in 2020, after Delta Air Lines bought a 20 percent stake in the group and paid its exit fee. The program now sits outside any global alliance and instead builds reach through bilateral partners, chiefly Delta, Aeroméxico, and Aerolíneas Argentinas.

Members earn LATAM Pass miles as the spendable currency across LATAM's extensive South American network and its partners, and earn Qualifying Points to reach elite tiers. Notably, as of 2026 members can accrue those status-qualifying points on only two partner airlines, Delta and Aeroméxico, which concentrates the program's status earning around its closest commercial allies.

The lesson for an enterprise operator is that leaving a large network forces a program to rebuild reach deliberately, partner by partner. LATAM traded the automatic breadth of oneworld for a tighter, equity-backed partnership with Delta. The result is a program whose value now depends heavily on a small set of deep relationships rather than a broad alliance. Operators contemplating a similar move should recognise that concentrated partnerships can be stronger commercially but leave members with narrower options.
