At a glance
SKYPASS is the frequent flyer program of Korean Air, and on December 17, 2026 it takes in the miles and members of Asiana Club. Members earn miles by flight distance and booking class, and miles stay valid for 10 years. Status runs from Morning Calm Club to the lifetime Morning Calm Premium Club and Million Miler Club. A new tier, Morning Calm Select Club, starts on October 28, 2026.
Program facts
Overview
SKYPASS pays miles by distance. Korean Air sets each segment's miles from the IATA distance between the two cities, then applies the rate for the booking class. Korean Air lists a Gimpo or Incheon to Jeju flight, for example, at 276 miles. Codeshare flights earn when they carry a Korean Air flight number, and SkyTeam and other partner airlines, credit cards and everyday partners also pay miles. Anyone can join, whatever their age or nationality. Miles stay valid for 10 years.
Miles buy award tickets on Korean Air and partner airlines, seat upgrades and extras such as excess baggage and lounge entry. Award tickets carry fees, taxes and fuel surcharges, and they are valid for one year from purchase. An award passenger must book and buy ahead; there is no waitlist at the airport. Members can register immediate family through the family plan, which does not pool miles on its own.
Status in SKYPASS mixes a renewable tier with two lifetime tiers. Morning Calm Club opens at 50,000 miles accrued or 80 boarding points. A domestic flight in Korea counts as one boarding point and an international flight as two. Morning Calm Premium Club takes 500,000 miles and Million Miler Club takes 1,000,000, and both last for life. Only miles flown on Korean Air and SkyTeam airlines count toward those two; miles from cards, other partners and promotions do not. Spending or losing miles never touches a member's tier.
The Asiana merger is reshaping the program in 2026. Korean Air added a fourth tier, Morning Calm Select Club, from October 28, 2026 Korea time. On December 17, 2026 the two mileage programs merge, and each Asiana Club account moves into SKYPASS. Asiana members keep their miles in a separate balance for 10 years, with their own award options, or convert them to SKYPASS miles when they ask. After 10 years, all Asiana miles fold into SKYPASS.
Asiana elites match into the new ladder. Platinum members become Million Miler Club, Diamond Plus members become Morning Calm Premium Club, and Diamond members land in the new Morning Calm Select Club. Gold members become Morning Calm Club. When the separate status period ends, Korean Air will rate each member again on combined flying on both airlines.
The tier map shows where the merger strained the old ladder. Asiana's Diamond members had no matching level between Morning Calm Club and the lifetime Premium tier, and the new Select Club gives them one. The 10-year window for Asiana miles has a cost too. Korean Air will carry two mileage balances and two award menus for a decade, and in return no Asiana member is forced to convert a balance on day one.
