Luxury independent hotels under a membership brand

Leaders Club is the loyalty program of The Leading Hotels of the World, a membership organization of independently owned luxury hotels. The program is tiered rather than currency-led. The base Club tier is free and delivers benefits from the first stay, including breakfast for two and a pre-arrival upgrade. Sterling status is reached by spending at least a set threshold on eligible room rates in a calendar year, or through select premium credit cards, and adds upgrade requests and a points bonus. A third tier, Aurelian, is invitation-only for the brand's highest-spending guests. Members do earn Leaders Club points toward reward nights, but points are secondary to recognition.

The design tells you what luxury guests actually value. At this end of the market, the retention driver is guaranteed recognition, breakfast, upgrades, and human attention, more than an accumulating point balance the guest may never bother to redeem. So the program leads with benefits and treats points as a supporting mechanic. The operator lesson is to match the program's center of gravity to the guest. For high-spend luxury travelers, delivered recognition outperforms deferred currency, and building the program around benefits rather than points reflects that reality.
