IHG One Rewards relaunched in 2022, replacing IHG Rewards Club. Members earn points on stays across a brand range from Holiday Inn Express to Six Senses and InterContinental, plus co-brand cards, then redeem for Reward Nights. The redesign introduced a five-tier ladder, Club, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond Elite, and a set of milestone rewards that pay out bonuses as members accumulate qualifying nights through the year. A fourth-night-free benefit on points redemptions rewards longer stays.
The structural innovation worth studying is milestone rewards. Traditional tier programs concentrate their payoff at status thresholds, which leaves the large middle of the base with little reason to keep engaging once the next tier looks out of reach. Milestone bonuses spread rewards across the accumulation curve, starting at twenty nights and repeating every ten nights to one hundred, regardless of final tier. The operator lesson is that rewarding cumulative progress, not only threshold crossings, re-engages mid-tier members and smooths the classic drop-off between enrollment and elite status.
