Program facts
Overview
SONIC Drive-In launched SONIC Rewards nationwide on April 6, 2026, inside the SONIC App. Before that, the SONIC terms dated January 16, 2026 described a My SONIC loyalty program whose rewards were not always named in advance. Deals came as app offers, such as a free Coca-Cola once a day with a purchase in November 2025. SONIC said the new program goes beyond deals, with points, challenges and status tiers. App users kept their accounts and only had to update the app. Eligible activity from the past year helped set their starting status.
Members earn 10 points per $1 on qualifying purchases. SONIC says points come faster through status tiers, and extra points come from challenges and limited time offers. SONIC's April 30 release announced a Month of Wins from May 4: a free Smasher with a $5 purchase, a free medium drink with a $3 purchase and bonus points on Friday purchases.
Status rests on visits in a calendar year. Ten visits make a member a Star, who earns 11 points per $1. Thirty visits make a Legend, who earns 12 points per $1.
Legend comes with one VIP offer, chosen from three. A member can take half-price drinks and slushes, or a free snack or side with any purchase once a week. The third is $2 off an order of $10 or more.
Every new member gets a welcome reward. At launch the choice was medium fries, tots or a drink. A birthday reward comes every year, and at launch it was a corn dog or a small shake. SONIC Rewards is available exclusively through the SONIC App.
SONIC's launch release says guests move up tiers by how many visits they make in a calendar year, and that the program rewards both visits and spend. A Legend needs 30 visits a year, about one every 12 days. The earn rate rises 10% at Star and 20% at Legend, from 10 to 11 and 12 points per $1. Buffalo Wild Wings, also owned by Inspire, sets its top tier at $250 of spending a year.
