How much do Walmart+ and Amazon Prime cost?

Amazon Prime is $14.99 a month or $139 a year. Walmart+ is $12.95 a month or $98 a year. The annual plans differ by $41, and the monthly plans by $2.04. Both prices exclude tax. Walmart+ also auto-renews until the member cancels from the account page.

For illustration, a household that pays month to month spends $179.88 a year on Prime and $155.40 on Walmart+. Switching to the annual plan cuts those to $139 and $98. That is a saving of $40.88 on Prime and $57.40 on Walmart+, from the list prices above.

Both companies sell cheaper plans. Prime for Young Adults gives ages 18 to 24 and higher education students a six-month $0 trial, then $7.49 a month or $69 a year. Prime Access gives qualifying government assistance recipients and income-verified customers a 30-day trial, then $6.99 a month. Walmart+ Assist takes 50% off, which makes it $6.47 a month or $49 a year. Eligible programs include SNAP, WIC, Medicaid and SSI. Walmart’s pricing FAQ also names college students as eligible for 50% off.

Walmart’s FAQ states one rule worth knowing before you sign up. Walmart says membership fees are not refundable. A member who cancels keeps the benefits until the end of the paid term.

Which one delivers groceries and packages better?

Walmart+ ties free delivery to the store. Orders of $35 or more from your local store arrive free in the time slot you pick. Under $35, you pay a $6.99 fee. Walmart says members pay the same prices as in the store, with no markup. Items sold and shipped by Walmart ship free with no minimum, and Walmart excludes some oversized items and third-party items.

Prime ties free delivery to Amazon’s catalog. Amazon says more than 300 million U.S. items carry free Prime shipping. Members get free Same-Day Delivery on orders over $25 in most eligible areas. Amazon also discounts 1-hour and 2-hour delivery from Whole Foods Market and Amazon Fresh. Amazon puts its own number on the value: U.S. members saved over $550 on average on deliveries last year.

Both have a fast lane. Walmart sells 1-hour and 3-hour delivery for a fee, and members pay $10 for 30-minute-or-less delivery in 33 U.S. markets. Amazon Now offers delivery in about 30 minutes or less. The test is local. Check which fast option reaches your zip code before you count it as a perk.

What do streaming and the extras add?

Prime includes Prime Video, with Amazon MGM Studios series, movies and live sports. It also includes Amazon Music in shuffle mode, unlimited full-resolution photo storage and a free Grubhub+ membership that Amazon values at $120 a year. Members can add One Medical for $9 a month or $99 a year. The $5-a-month RxPass program covers more than 60 generic drugs.

Walmart+ includes Video Streaming Choice. Members pick Paramount+ Essential or Peacock Premium. Both have ads. Members can switch once every 90 days. Paid members can upgrade to an ad-free plan for an extra charge. The membership also includes Pawp pet telehealth, which Walmart says saves $99 against a standalone Pawp plan. Burger King members get 25% off one digital order a day and a free Whopper with a qualifying purchase every three months.

In August 2026, Walmart added Photo Center and Money Center perks. Members get 25 free 4x6 photo prints a month and member savings on one Money Center service every three months. Walmart+ Auto Care benefits include free flat tire repair. These perks reward members who visit the store.

How do fuel, travel and card rewards compare?

Both memberships take up to 10 cents off a gallon. Prime covers more than 7,500 bp, Amoco, ampm and Thorntons stations. Walmart+ covers Exxon and Mobil stations, plus select Walmart and Murphy stations, at more than 13,000 locations. Amazon’s own math assumes 675 gallons a year and puts the saving at nearly $70, about half the cost of an annual Prime membership. Walmart sets no limit on gallons.

Walmart+ adds travel cash back. Members who book through Walmart+ Travel, powered by Expedia, earn up to 10% Walmart Cash on hotels, car rentals and activities and 2% on flights. Walmart Cash never expires and can be spent on Walmart purchases or taken as cash back. It shows as pending until the trip is complete, and members can redeem it 30 days after the trip ends.

Each membership also pairs with a credit card. The Prime Visa earns 5% back at Amazon, Whole Foods Market and Chase Travel. Gas stations, restaurants and transit earn 2%. Everything else earns 1%. The Prime Visa carries no annual card fee. The OnePay CashRewards Card earns 5% on Walmart purchases and a $35 welcome bonus. Walmart also lets members earn 5% back on the renewal fee when that card pays for the membership.

Which should you choose?

  • Weekly grocery shoppers at Walmart: Walmart+. Free store delivery from $35 and fuel savings follow the same trips.
  • Online-first households: Prime. Free shipping covers more than 300 million items, and Prime Video comes with it.
  • Drivers: Either. Both give up to 10 cents a gallon, so pick the one with stations near your commute.
  • Families who stream: Prime if you want Prime Video and music. Walmart+ if Paramount+ or Peacock is the service you already pay for.
  • Households on assistance programs: Either. Both cut the price roughly in half, to $6.47 for Walmart+ Assist and $6.99 for Prime Access.
  • Deal hunters: Prime, for events such as Prime Big Deal Days. Walmart+ members had early access to select hot Deal drops in the June 2026 Walmart Deals event.

A household can hold both. The memberships bill separately, so the two annual plans together cost $237. Start with the cheaper one and add the other only if its delivery area and perks cover trips you already make. Our guides to the best retail loyalty programs and the best grocery loyalty programs show where else your spending can earn.

What do Walmart+ and Prime teach a loyalty team?

Both programs charge a fee for membership. A fee turns a rebate into recurring revenue. Walmart’s second-quarter fiscal 2027 release said membership fee revenue grew 17% globally. It also said Walmart+ net adds reached a record second-quarter high in the U.S. The release does not break out Walmart+ revenue or member counts.

Walmart holds the price and adds benefits. In September 2025 it said Walmart+ had grown from 3 benefits to 12 since 2020, still at $98 a year. Peacock joined Paramount+ in that release, and Walmart said it added Peacock without raising the price. Amazon prints the value against the fee instead. Its claim of over $550 in delivery savings is nearly four times the annual price. Both moves speak to the renewal decision.

Benefit rules differ by member type, and that adds operating work. Walmart’s FAQ lets trial members use streaming, but only paid members can upgrade a streaming plan. Its June 2026 Walmart Deals release excludes $1 trial members, free-trial Student members and Assist members from early access. Each partner benefit needs an entitlement check against the member’s plan.

Partners arrive one at a time. Burger King was the first dining partner in August 2024. Expedia powers travel. Exxon and Mobil supply the fuel discount. Peacock and Paramount+ supply the video. Prime bundles Amazon’s own services with partners such as Grubhub+ and bp. A loyalty team running a design like this needs earn rules, terms and settlement for every partner. Both programs also pair the fee with a card that pays 5% at the sponsor’s own store.

How GRAVTY handles paid memberships

GRAVTY, Loyalty Juggernaut’s platform, models a paid program as configuration instead of a bespoke build. Paid tiers, their entitlements and the benefit rules are authored in Visual Rules, its patented visual rules language. The loyalty team deploys them without an IT ticket. GRAVTY does not set the fee or design the benefits. It runs 500M+ members in production under a 99.99% uptime SLA. Deutsche Telekom runs one program on GRAVTY with 4,500 partners across 9 countries. Our paid loyalty programs guide covers fee design, and our partner settlement guide covers how partner value moves between brands.
