Vancouver-based TravelAI announced the acquisition of Sonder brand assets and intellectual property, including trademarks and domain names. The transaction did not cover Sonder operating business elements such as properties, leases, inventory or staff. It followed Sonder’s November 2025 split from Marriott International and its bankruptcy filing. Sonder.com relaunched July 27 as a curated, AI-enabled guide powered by memory infrastructure that collects user tastes, preferences and history over time. The site presents a selection of boutique hotels and urban accommodations in major cities chosen for design, neighborhood and quality. TravelAI operates as the name of UpNext Ventures Inc. and its subsidiaries, which completed the purchase through the court-appointed Trustee after Sonder filed under Canada’s Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act. Kasa and other hospitality companies have taken over some former Sonder properties. “Sonder earned something rare: a name people remember and a standard of taste they trusted,” said John Lyotier, co-founder and CEO of TravelAI. In hospitality, brand assets from bankrupt operators continue to be repurposed by technology firms for new discovery platforms.
