Michaels is expanding an experiential store model to a third location in Rogers, Arkansas. The first two locations opened in Easton, Ohio, and Irving, Texas. The refreshed stores feature revamped department layouts, new personalization services and a self-checkout queue exclusive to rewards members. Michaels Knit & Sew Shop, first launched in 2025 after the acquisition of Joann’s IP, now sits prominently at the front. Expanded framing and personalization services add embroidery, engraving and made-to-order sticker options. An updated Welcome Center greets customers at the entrance. A unified florals and greenery department and a new Pinterest Trend Bar are also included. The party shop space, which debuted in 2025, remains part of the format. “The new format reflects our customers’ desire for more inspiration and hands-on, analog experiences, while providing a space for the local community to connect, create, and celebrate,” David Boone, CEO of Michaels, said in a statement. The new model lets the retailer pilot key elements that will eventually roll out to all stores. Michaels plans to open additional concept stores throughout 2026. Retailers continue to test updated physical formats before wider deployment.
