Lyft and United Airlines introduced a pay-with-miles option for U.S. rideshare on April 29, 2026, which the companies called the first direct mile-to-ride redemption between an airline program and a rideshare platform. MileagePlus members who link their Lyft and United accounts see a pay-with-miles option in the Lyft app when requesting a ride, with the miles required shown before booking. Members can cover a full fare with miles or split the cost with another payment method, across ride types including airport trips and premium options. New Lyft riders who link their MileagePlus account and take two rides within 30 days earn 1,000 bonus miles. “We’re giving MileagePlus members more ways to use their miles,” said Jarad Fisher, president of United MileagePlus. Because members already earn miles on Lyft rides, the feature closes an earn-and-redeem loop between ground and air travel. Airline programs continue extending redemption into everyday spending categories.
