Air Canada has launched two new BASIC fare classes for the Premium Economy and Business cabins. Both include checked baggage, priority boarding, priority baggage, and onboard meal service. Seat selection requires an extra payment. Elite members cannot use eUpgrades on these fares. Signature Suite access is not included. The fares apply to travel in the Caribbean, Latin America, Mexico, South America, and Air Canada transatlantic Joint Venture markets excluding Iran, Israel, and the UAE. Availability extends alongside United Airlines and the Lufthansa Group. Aeroplan members earn 1 mile per dollar spent. Elite members earn 2 to 6 miles per CAD based on status. All members receive 4 SQCs per CAD spent. Elite members keep most benefits including on the ground priority services, lounge access in business class limited to Maple Leaf lounges, and extra luggage allowance. Many carriers now sell basic business class fares without lounge access or checked bags. Air Canada includes both of those elements.
