Accor and H World Group announced a capital-free partnership that links loyalty programs and distribution platforms across China, Europe, and the Middle East. The agreement gives both companies access to a combined 430 million members and more than 19,000 hotels. The deal starts with around 240 hotels and select benefits. Both Accor Deputy CEO Jean-Jacques Morin and H World Chief Strategy Officer Jihong He said they plan to eventually cross-sell their entire portfolios. The companies will pay each other referral fees as they shift bookings from OTAs that charge 10 to 15 percent commissions to direct and partner channels that cost 4 to 5 percent. Accor gains a route into the Chinese outbound market through a local operator it has worked with since 2014. H World moves toward operating as a global hotel group. Guest data cannot cross borders because of GDPR and China’s data laws, reservation systems stay separate, and points conversion has not yet been scheduled. Success depends on turning members into bookings. Average room nights per loyalty member have been declining industry-wide.
