Overview
MGM Rewards covers MGM Resorts' properties across the United States, from Las Vegas to resorts such as Borgata and Beau Rivage. MGM's 2025 annual report puts the program at the center of how it serves guests: one tiered program that pays on gaming and on everything else. In China the company runs two other programs. M life serves guests who do not gamble, and the Golden Lion Club serves those who do.
Members earn two things at once. MGM Rewards Points are the spending money. They pay for hotel stays, food and drink, shows, spa and salon visits and more, and spending them never lowers a member's tier. Tier Credits are the score that sets status. Every eligible dollar on a hotel folio, and at participating restaurants, bars and nightclubs, earns 1 MGM Rewards Point and 4 Tier Credits. Gaming earns on a different scale. Slots, video poker and electronic table games pay by wager, game type and denomination, and live table games pay by time played, average bet and game. MGM does not publish those ratios, and it sends members to the MGM Rewards desk with questions. Slot play also earns SLOT DOLLARS, which turn into FREEPLAY. BetMGM wagers earn Tier Credits, and BetMGM's own points convert to MGM Rewards Points through the BetMGM Loyalty Store.
Status has five levels. Sapphire covers members up to 19,999 Tier Credits. Pearl starts at 20,000, Gold at 75,000 and Platinum at 200,000, and NOIR is by invitation only. Credits count from January 1 to December 31 and set status for the benefit year that runs February 1 to January 31. Pearl brings free self-parking and bonus SLOT DOLLARS. Gold waives resort fees, adds free valet and pays a $100 Tier Celebration Credit. Platinum pays $200 and up to $600 in air travel credit toward a trip to Las Vegas, Borgata or Beau Rivage. NOIR pays $500, up to $1,200 in air travel credit and free transportation. Active and retired military members and their spouses start at Pearl.
Expiry depends on tier. A Sapphire member's points and SLOT DOLLARS lapse after six months with no activity. From Pearl up, they do not expire. The MGM Rewards credit cards earn their own MGM Mastercard Points plus Tier Credits on all spending. Card points convert to SLOT DOLLARS or MGM Rewards Points.
Partners reach well past the casino floor. Through the MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy, a linked account gets a matching Marriott tier. Pearl maps to Silver Elite, Gold and Platinum map to Gold Elite, and NOIR maps to Ambassador Elite. On qualifying sailings, Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises give members onboard FREEPLAY, from $25 at Sapphire to $200 at NOIR. On sailings from June 10, 2025 booked with MGM Rewards cruise offers, slot, video poker and table play at sea earns points and Tier Credits at Las Vegas rates. Slot and video poker play also earns SLOT DOLLARS. Gold, Platinum and NOIR members who qualify also get a yearly cruise for two.
The program puts a number on its own promises. MGM's 2025 10-K shows a loyalty program liability of $216.6 million at year end, which is revenue MGM has deferred for rewards members have earned and not yet used, net of expected breakage. The fixed 4-to-1 ratio of Tier Credits to points on rooms and dining gives a hotel guest who never gambles a published path to status. Gaming earn stays unpublished, so MGM sets the return on play by game and by property.
