Loyalty Juggernaut publishes this guide and makes GRAVTY, one of the ten platforms listed. Read the GRAVTY entry as a vendor describing its own product. Each other entry draws only on that vendor's own current pages. The list runs in alphabetical order. It ranks nobody.
What is grocery loyalty software?
Grocery loyalty software runs the member side of each grocery basket. It finds the shopper at the lane and prices member deals and coupons item by item. It posts points, sends fuel rewards to the pump and tells the grocer what each offer sold.
A grocery program can touch almost every sale. Kroger says over 95% of its customer transactions are tied to a Kroger loyalty card. Albertsons has 51.2 million members in its program. At that reach, the loyalty platform sits in the path of nearly every sale.
Grocers also send a lot of offers. Ahold Delhaize says its US brands sent over 14.2 billion personal offers in 2025, up 18% on the year before. For the general retail checklist, read our retail loyalty software guide. For the best programs to study, see our best grocery loyalty programs.
Which grocery loyalty platforms belong on a shortlist?
Grocery vendors fall into five groups. Enterprise engines run points and offers for chains. Coupon networks bring in CPG money. Shopper apps sit on top of a points engine. Lane tools serve independent stores, and some vendors focus on convenience and fuel.
| Platform | Best for, in the vendor's terms | How it is deployed |
|---|---|---|
| AppCard | Independent grocers | Connects to the store's POS, with an in-lane terminal |
| Birdzi | Regional and national grocers | Works across the grocer's POS, loyalty and ecommerce systems |
| Comarch | Grocery stores, supermarkets and fuel retailers | No-code, API-centric modular platform |
| Eagle Eye | Enterprise grocers and fuel retailers | AIR platform, hosted on Google Cloud |
| Exchange Solutions | Grocers, plus fuel and convenience retailers | Cloud-native SaaS |
| GRAVTY | Enterprise grocery, convenience and fuel groups that run one program across banners and partner brands | Cloud-native, serverless on AWS, under a 99.99% uptime SLA |
| Inmar | Retailers that run CPG-funded offers and coupons | API-driven promotion engine, plus coupon settlement |
| PDI | Convenience and fuel retailers | Tied to the PDI Pricebook |
| Swiftly | Wholesalers, retailers and brands | Hosted app and web that plugs into the grocer's loyalty platform |
| Talon.One | Grocery and on-demand brands | Promotion engine API |
What does each grocery loyalty platform offer?
AppCard
AppCard serves 3,300 independent grocers and 40M shoppers. Its in-lane terminal shows coupons at checkout, so shoppers need no phone.
Birdzi
Birdzi sends each shopper their own digital savings and emails. Wakefern picked it for ShopRite and its other banners.
Comarch
Comarch aims its loyalty platform at grocers and supermarkets. Its fuel page names programs at BP, ExxonMobil, Enoc and OMV.
Eagle Eye
Eagle Eye runs its AIR platform on Google Cloud for grocers that include Tesco and Woolworths Group, and Asda launched on it three months after kick-off.
Exchange Solutions
Exchange Solutions sells ES Loyalty as SaaS to grocers. For fuel, it links to Gilbarco's Passport POS.
GRAVTY
Who it fits. GRAVTY is Loyalty Juggernaut's platform for grocery, convenience and fuel groups that run one program across banners and partner brands. It runs Spin Premia, the FEMSA program anchored in OXXO stores, with its partner brands on one engine. Spin Premia grew loyalty-driven revenue by 554% in three years, with 147% growth in average ticket size. Majid Al Futtaim's SHARE program, which spans malls, retail and restaurants, records a 35% increase in cross-brand engagement. In the Nordics, the Spenn currency has spanned REMA 1000, 7-Eleven, Narvesen and Uno-X on GRAVTY since June 2026.
Where it runs. GRAVTY is cloud native and runs serverless on AWS. It holds 500M+ members in production, under a 99.99% uptime SLA. Average API latency is under 50 ms. It has 150+ systems integrated. Toshiba, NCR Voyix and Oracle Xstore are among the POS links on the integrations page.
What it does. The same member record shows up in every banner and channel: store POS, forecourt, app and ecommerce. Partner onboarding, settlement, reconciliation and revenue share run inside the platform. CPG brands can target the grocer's members without touching raw personal data, with settlement for each brand. AI-Scan reads a receipt from any store, maps each line to a SKU and credits points or sets off an offer. It also checks for copied or altered receipts.
How the team runs it. Category managers build deals in Visual Rules, a patented no-code rules engine. AgenticTest watches lift in flight and pulls budget from underperforming arms automatically. AI-Trust flags odd earn and burn as it happens. The same partner engine runs Deutsche Telekom's program, with 4,500 partners in 9 countries. See grocery loyalty on GRAVTY.
Inmar
Inmar's engine reads each shopper's digital wallet at checkout. It also settles coupons that brands pay for.
PDI
PDI builds loyalty for convenience retail, with one app from the pump to the register tied to the PDI Pricebook.
Swiftly
Swiftly hosts the grocer's app, coupons and retail media, and plugs into the grocer's current loyalty platform for points.
Talon.One
Talon. One, which calls joining Adyen its next chapter, runs a promotion engine that checks brand, category and price on each item at checkout.
What should a grocery loyalty platform prove before you buy?
Start with the tests that decide whether the program holds up across a whole grocery group. Item-level deals and coupons matter too, and the next section covers them.
One member across banners, fuel and partners
Grocery groups reach past the supermarket. Kroger runs fuel centers at 1,731 of its 2,697 supermarkets. Albertsons' forU points pay for fuel at owned and partner stations. So the platform has to hold one member across formats and settle what each partner owes. Spin Premia and Spenn run this way on GRAVTY. Our partner settlement guide covers the math.
Uptime and speed at the lane
When over 95% of transactions carry a loyalty card, as at Kroger, an outage hits almost every sale. Put the uptime figure in the contract. Then test response time at peak load. GRAVTY carries a 99.99% uptime SLA. Average API latency is under 50 ms, across 500M+ members in production.
Deals the category team can change
Stop & Shop puts digital coupons on a weekly circular, so deals turn over each week. Category managers should build and test a deal without an IT ticket. In GRAVTY they write the rule in Visual Rules, and AgenticTest watches the lift while the deal runs.
A move that keeps members earning
A grocer replacing a live program has to move members and balances without a gap. Ask how the vendor runs the old and new systems side by side. GRAVTY Ascend holds member balances in both and switches the old system off once the numbers reconcile. WestJet moved its whole program to GRAVTY while members kept earning. Its year-end rollover now takes 28 hours, down from 10 days. Our migration guide covers the steps.
What makes grocery loyalty different from other retail?
Item-level offers and CPG money
A grocery deal can sit on one item, with a brand paying for it. The platform must read each line in the basket, apply the deal and record who funds it. Brand coupons then go through clearing. NCH, now part of RRD, audits and settles coupon redemptions for brands and retailers. Ask each vendor what redemption data it sends the clearinghouse.
Standards help here. GS1 sets Application Identifier 8110 for North American coupon codes, and 8112 for positive offer file coupons. Ask whether the POS link checks these codes against the basket before the discount applies. Our CPG loyalty guide covers the brand side.
Fuel rewards
Albertsons' forU terms show the rules a fuel program has to enforce. Every 100 points take 10 cents off a gallon, for up to 25 gallons in one fill. Points expire within two calendar months, though not for forU+ subscribers. They reach the pump about an hour after a shopper earns them. Alcohol, tobacco and fuel earn no points.
SNAP shoppers
Federal rules require equal treatment. Under 7 CFR 278.2, stores accept SNAP benefits at the same prices and terms as cash. Stores cannot single out SNAP users for special treatment. Member prices and digital coupons must work the same way for them.
A SNAP-only bonus needs approval first. The USDA Food and Nutrition Administration says a store must apply for a waiver of the equal treatment rule to run one. Its healthy incentives page rules out prepared foods. So the platform needs to aim an offer at a food list and a payment type.
Shoppers without the app
A digital coupon reaches only the shoppers who can clip it. Stop & Shop added Savings Station kiosks, where shoppers turn on offers with a loyalty card or phone number. Ask each vendor how it serves shoppers who never install the app. For sales at registers the program does not run, receipt scanning puts the basket on the member's record.
How should you evaluate grocery loyalty software in a demo?
Bring your own basket, your own POS and one CPG offer. Ask the vendor to run them live. For the deeper script on scale and finance controls, use the enterprise loyalty software checklist.
| Criterion | Why it matters | What to ask in a demo |
|---|---|---|
| Banners and partners | Groups run several banners and add fuel, pharmacy or partner brands. | Add a second banner and a fuel partner, each with its own earn rate, on one member record. |
| Partner settlement | Every partner earn and burn turns into money owed. | Show the month-end statement one partner receives, and how it reconciles. |
| Uptime | A loyalty outage touches almost every sale. | What uptime SLA goes in the contract? Show last year's record. |
| Lane speed at peak | A slow loyalty call holds up the queue. | Price a 50-item basket with five offers on our POS at peak load. How long did it take? |
| Rules without code | Weekly deals cannot wait for a release. | Have a category manager build a buy-two-get-one deal while we watch. |
| Testing and AI | Some deals buy sales that would have happened anyway. | Show how you measure lift during a live deal, and who approves a change. |
| Migration | Members expect their balances to carry over. | How do you run our old and new systems in parallel before cutover? |
| CPG funding and coupons | When a brand pays for a deal, the grocer has to bill it. | Scan a coupon for an item missing from the basket. Then show the clearing file. |
| Fuel rewards | Points turn into cents per gallon at owned and partner pumps. | Convert points to a fuel discount with a gallon cap per fill. |
| SNAP rules | Offers must treat SNAP shoppers like cash shoppers. | Pay part of the basket with EBT. Show that member prices still apply. |
| Shoppers without the app | Some shoppers never install it. | Show a shopper turning on offers by phone number at the lane. |
| Pricing | Vendors charge by transaction, active member or data volume. | What does year three cost at double our transactions? |
How do you choose by store format and size?
Grocery groups with banners, fuel and partners. The deciding tests are one member record, partner settlement and uptime at peak. GRAVTY runs Spin Premia across OXXO stores and Spenn across grocery, convenience and fuel brands, under a 99.99% uptime SLA. Comarch, Eagle Eye, Exchange Solutions and Talon. One also sell to large grocers. Chains can add a coupon partner such as Inmar and an app layer such as Birdzi or Swiftly.
Independent grocers. Single stores need a tool that works with the POS they already own. AppCard connects to many POS brands. LOC Software sells ThriVersA Loyalty with LOC Point of Sale, and Vori runs loyalty inside the Vori POS.
Convenience and fuel. The program has to reach the pump, the store and the car wash. PDI is built for this format, and Comarch, Eagle Eye and Exchange Solutions also sell fuel programs. GRAVTY runs both OXXO's Spin Premia and the Spenn currency, which includes 7-Eleven and Uno-X.
How to judge results. Track the share of sales tied to a member, as Kroger does. Ahold Delhaize targets 80% omnichannel loyalty sales penetration by 2028. Then test whether offers changed what members bought. A control group shows it, as our loyalty program ROI guide explains.
Frequently asked questions
Which grocery loyalty software suits a large grocery group?
A group with several banners, fuel and partner brands needs one member record, partner settlement and high uptime at the lane. GRAVTY runs Spin Premia across OXXO stores and the Spenn currency across grocery, convenience and fuel brands. Spin Premia grew loyalty-driven revenue by 554% in three years. GRAVTY carries a 99.99% uptime SLA, with average API latency under 50 ms. Ask every vendor on the shortlist to show the same three tests live.
How much does grocery loyalty software cost?
Few vendors publish prices, so expect a custom quote. Eagle Eye's annual report lists an implementation fee, a recurring license and a fee per transaction. Talon. One prices by data volume. Comarch charges only for active members. Ask every vendor for a three-year quote at double your current volume.
Do SNAP shoppers get member prices and points?
They get the same terms as cash shoppers. 7 CFR 278.2 requires stores to accept SNAP benefits at the same prices and terms as cash. It also bars stores from singling out SNAP users. A bonus only for SNAP shoppers needs a USDA waiver first.
What is a load-to-card coupon?
A load-to-card coupon is a digital coupon the shopper adds to a loyalty account before checkout. It applies when the shopper scans the card or types a phone number at the register. AppCard describes it as one tap to clip, with savings applied at the register. If a brand funds the coupon, the redemption goes to clearing.
How do fuel rewards work in a grocery program?
Shoppers earn points on groceries and trade them for cents off each gallon of fuel. At Albertsons, every 100 points take 10 cents off a gallon, for up to 25 gallons in one fill. The software has to sync points to the pump and apply caps at owned and partner stations.
Why does Loyalty Juggernaut list its own platform?
GRAVTY is on the list because it competes in this category, and leaving it out would hide that. Its entry uses Loyalty Juggernaut's own figures. Each other entry uses only that vendor's own pages.
